Sarah Kirwan, MSPA, is the Founder and CEO of Eye Level Communications, LLC (Eye Level), a disability- and woman-owned consulting firm, dedicated to facilitating the impactful conversations that catalyze greater workforce equity for people with disabilities. Since 2017, Sarah has crafted customized training and workshops, communications strategies, and strategic plans in consultation with local and global clientele. Her high-profile clients have included the City and County of Los Angeles, Google, National Alliance on Mental Illness, National Wheelchair Basketball Association, UCLA, and the YMCA. Sarah also hosts the Incluse This! podcast, a digital gathering space for disability voices and allies to record their experiences and ignite social change. As a driven activist, Sarah passionately pursues her vision of an equitable and inclusive future for all.
Considered a Lived Experience Expert Partner with the US Department of Health & Human Services, Sarah’s focus on disability rights stems from her own experience with Multiple Sclerosis and a rare Vestibular Disease. As an empathetic thought leader and member of the National Diversity Council and California Diversity Council, she steers national conversations on intersectional diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA). She also serves as Board Chair for Shield Maidens Wheelchair Basketball and as a policy advocate with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Her ongoing efforts as a disability champion have been featured in Hearing Health Foundation Magazine, Prevention Magazine, and Yahoo!
Sarah’s effective advocacy work draws from 25 years of experience advancing the cause of health equity through actionable policy improvements and executive healthcare administration. Prior to founding Eye Level in 2017, she served as the Director of Chapter Services & Healthcare Access at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Previously, she operated as an Assistant Hospital Administrator/Public Information Officer for the world-renowned Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. She entered public service after her behind-the-scenes work as a Congressional Analyst facilitated the healthcare reforms that became the Affordable Care Act.
Sarah holds an MS in Public Administration from California State University, Los Angeles, and a BA in English, and Journalism and Mass Communications, from the University of Iowa. She has gained certifications in Employing Abilities at Work (Society for Human Resources Management), Corporate Sustainability (Cornell University), Durable DEI (Gallup), Anti-Bias (Morehouse College), Leadership, Public Policy, & Public Service (The Panetta Institute for Public Policy), and more.
Sarah lives with her husband and three dogs in Santa Maria, California. She spends her spare time coaching women’s wheelchair basketball and relaxing at the beach.
